SURRENDER
I lie on a bed of moss
In a forest of redwoods.
Surrounded by roots of wisdom,
Grandmother trunks filled with a history of mother earth‘s best kept secrets.
Surrender in this moment
Families of branches reaching out for home
Trunks climbing taller than any other of their species.
Grateful for her grand perspective,
She never begs for her eternal existence to end.
Does wisdom come with time?
Can I crawl inside your trunk dear Grandmother,
And build a nest for these troubled thoughts?
Will you place these questions deep inside your heart?
Keep them here on earth instead of haunting my soul forever.
Deep down I plant all my fears,
My hands indebted to the soil that covers them
Burying the deceit and pain I have caused.
I entrust to you my honorary family,
My deepest secrets
Into your bark,
Into your roots.
You accept me,
Grant me shelter,
Hide my mistakes amongst your shadows.
Adopt my spirit, as one amongst your children.
The angels can hear me now, and are coming
How fast will I fade
Deep into space
Where the stars long for my return
Home in the spirals of Milky Way’s light?
Free me from these questions
How much time do I have before
My soul becomes prisms of light?
Colors mirrored in the sky.
I promise to light your forest with a rainbow after each summer rain.
Only this moment matters
Dearest Grandmother, thank you.
Your branches shelter me from the coming storm,
As a few drops of rain fall on my cheek,
I am grateful for your protection, but I beg you,
Open your arms to the sky, as I have mine.
This is the moment my suffering ends.
I am one with you above and below, for all time.
