Adrenal Cocktail Orangeade for the Win!
As many of you know, I'm all about pro-metabolic eating. I make sure I'm getting as much nutrients from my foods as possible, and since having my second baby a year and a half ago, I realized how important it is to not only stay hydrated, but to make sure I'm getting enough salts and minerals throughout the day so I don't get sluggish. My body will run on stress hormones from breastfeeding, stress, not getting enough sleep, etc. If I'm running on empty I will eventually get moody, snappy, brain foggy, and ultimately everything suffers.
This is where adrenal cocktails come in. I drink them twice a day, one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon, and no matter how poor quality of sleep I had the night before, I'm able to sustain a great amount of energy and a positive mood throughout the day by supporting my adrenals. As a mom of a toddler, this is essential. So here's a favorite recipe I thought I'd share which is delicious and hydrating for these hot days.
Fyi: in order for an adrenal cocktail to be effective, it needs to include potassium, sodium, magnesium and vitamin c (from whole foods).
1 cup of organic coconut water
4 oz of water or sparkling water
1 cup of orange juice
1 tablespoon of maple syrup (optional)
1/4 teaspoon of highly nutrient sea salt (I like this one).
1/4 teaspoon of magnesium powder (I like this one).
